Spontaneous Music Making: Cello Improvisation

At the end of 2012, my cello students were fortunate to participate in a spontaneous music making workshop with Ha!Man Francois le Roux an improvising cellist and pianist from South Africa who has been making annual cross country tours of the United States for many years.

The workshop and his concert immediately following were entirely improvised, with spontaneous accompaniment provided by Francois on cello or piano or his own electronic accompaniments. The students had opportunities to improvise solo and en masse at the concert and came away inspired and thrilled to have experienced something so unique.

Pictures from this event are posted on Martha Vance Studio facebook page.

Visit his website HamanWorld.com for more information about him, an amazing musician and human being. I would also recommend that you subscribe to his monthly newsletter.
